A much needed new post. This is part of a new musician series, and also part of a collaboration between Mack Pinchbeck, aka Bake Shields, and I. Much more to come. Gearing up for a new show late December.

This is a website that I made with and for my father, Bert Vanderugten. Photographing paintings is harder than you might think… all in all a very rewarding project.

Recent stamp project for Metchosin based baker Byron Fry.
The name “Fry’s Red Wheat Bread” and logo were passed down from Byron’s great-grandfather who owned and operated a bakery in Victoria at the turn of the century. Byron now operates a micro bakery out of Metchosin B.C. and his bread is amazing, check him out at travelingbaker.tumblr.com.

Its been a long time since my last post, so I thought I would put a few images up. The end of winter and early spring are always times of adjustment, new processes are explored, old ways of doing things don’t seem right anymore. Here’s a few samples of some of my explorations into using multiple plates, experiments with using “ghost” prints to achieve textured soft tones, and some concept work for a long overdue series on Vancouver Islands endangered old growth trees. With the warm weather well on its way, I can feel the productivity of summer not far behind…

Worked with Matt and Kim’s wonderful idea of turning the storefront of StillLife into a winter cabin complete with vintage skis, snowshoes and a toboggan decorating the inside. Some rustic window panes framed with a painted log cabin design finished off another day of painting. Check it out at 551 johnson street, two doors down from Cusp Clothing, across from the Market Square entrance. Photos by jordan Stout.

The first of my Christmas window painting this season. Spent a great day hanging out and listening to beautiful girls chat about fashion and gossip while I silently painted birch trees and songbirds. If your wandering around town anytime between now and christmas check out Cusp Clothing at 102-561 Johnson street, almost directly across from the Market Square entrance.
